UF Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering Engineering School of Sustainable Infrastructure and Environment
The Engineering School of Sustainable Infrastructure & Environment (ESSIE) is home to the Department of Civil & Coastal Engineering and the Department of Environmental Engineering Sciences. We are committed to addressing the challenges of our changing world by finding solutions that enhance the environment and improve lives.
Students and faculty are at the forefront of advancing sustainability and infrastructure beyond the classroom with our hands-on experiential curriculum. Additionally, the school connects students and alumni with real-world opportunities through our Evening with Industry bi-annual career fair held in the fall and spring semesters.
We have been proud supporters of the Center for Coastal Solutions (CCS) since its inception, with our faculty laying the foundation for the center’s interdisciplinary approach to coastal resilience. Christine Angelini, Ph.D., a former ESSIE full professor, was instrumental in building out the center. As she stepped down from her position at ESSIE and the center, we are thankful for her visionary leadership and for building CCS into a nationally recognized hub in coastal sustainability.
