Several water and coastal bills are being passed and supported, including a seagrass restoration technology development initiative, land acquisition trust fund and EPA grant for Indian River Lagoon field trip.   

  1. SB 724 – Seagrass Restoration Technology Development Initiative  This bill provides for funding, requires the creation of a 10-year Florida Seagrass Restoration Plan and establishes the Initiative Technology Advisory Council. In collaboration with the program, Mote Marine Laboratory and the University of Florida will implement tools and technologies developed under this initiative. 
  1. HB 547 – Land Acquisition Trust Fund – Rep.Sirois – 2023 This bill provides appropriation for certain projects related to Indian River Lagoon Comprehensive Conservation & Management Plan, authorizes the Department of Environmental Protection to make grants for such projects and directs department to submit annual report to Governor & Legislature.”
